Spiral Heat Exchanger

Applications: Liquid / Liquid & Vapour Liquid

MOC: Carbon steel, Austenitic stainless steels like SS304L / SS316L, Duplex, Hastelloy, AL6XN and other compatible materials.

Type I – Both Side Openable Spiral Heat Exchanger

  • Single-channel design that generates high shear rates which contribute to a self-cleaning effect, preventing clogging of the unit. Spiral heat exchangers are the perfect solution for challenging, high-viscosity media.
  • The channel size is selected to fit the flow and qualities of the media. The many variations in diameters and widths of the spiral coil allow for many different combinations, which mean that we can create the optimal solution for every duty.
  • Designed to handle a very aggressive temperature program and with a wide range of materials and plate thicknesses available, we customize each spiral heat exchanger to match the requirements of any application.
  • Limited need for maintenance and cleaning ensures extended operational uptime. If the need for cleaning arises due to particularly difficult media, the hinged covers provide easy access to the entire heat transfer surface.
  • Very compact solutions, our spiral heat exchangers have minimal space requirements. Despite their small stature, the long, curved flow paths allow for very high heat transfer coefficients up to twice as high as their shell and tube counterparts.

Type II – Fully Welded Spiral Heat Exchanger

  • Spiral Heat Exchangers are sturdy and compact heat exchangers for Solvent condensing and Process Heating / Cooling Application.
  • The heat transfer channel gives the smooth and continual flow to liquid with constant velocity, which avoid the blocking the flow path.

Condensate Out

  • Spirals are widely used in solvent recovery applications with condensing efficiency more than 95%. The flow across the condenser is cross flow.

  • Vapours enter from top and get condensed when in contact with heat transfer zone, and condensate are collected at bottom.

  • Utility (water) flows in spiral shape and comes out from shell upper side. The vent is connected after Heat Transfer Area to vent out the non-condensed gases.

  • In multipurpose distillation plant Spirals are much beneficial as compact solution. It occupies only 30% area of lengthy shell and tube exchangers. In vacuum duty it gives lesser pressure drop on solvent side.

  • Spirals are recommended for fouling duty in liquid – liquid heat transfer. It gives appropriate counter current flow with access for cleaning for both fluids.

  • Designed and custom made to handle sludges, slurries, wastewater, wood pulps, hydrocarbons with high viscosity, and fouling liquids that contain fibers and solids. The spiral heat exchangers use coiled metal sheets instead of tube bundles and can achieve very high thermal performance without sacrificing the plate gap that lets the media flow unimpeded.
